Life since I became a wife!
I can’t believe we’ve been married for a month! Sorry we haven’t updated our blog sooner. Life has been a little crazy, to say the least. Dallin is graduating next week, and the semester is coming to an end for both of us. The past month has been filled with our wedding day, honeymoon, getting settled in our new place, buying a new car, and planning for the future. For those who didn’t know, we are living in my parents’ basement apartment. It’s awesome because we sneak upstairs in the middle of the night to watch tv on their huge screen…just kidding mom and dad. But it really has been great—it’s just the right size for us. At first we didn’t know how we’d fit all our stuff there, but now it’s nice and cozy. :)
I LOVE cooking dinners for my husband (when he’s not making his own hot pockets), and the best part is that Dallin is the world’s least picky eater! That makes making dinner super easy. On an unrelated note, we recently started playing on our coed softball team again, so that’s nice having something we both love doing, and being able to do it together.
The wedding….I know this is a late post but better late than never. March 12 couldn’t have been any better. The weather was great…sunny and a little windy…okay, a lot windy but only outside of the Temple…is it ever windy inside the Temple? Getting dressed all in white, spending time together in the Celestial room, and then getting to kneel across from my best friend and making those sacred convents was amazing. I’ll be honest, I don’t really remember everything the sealer said but I know it was great. I didn’t cry…can you believe it! I got a little teary-eyed, but I didn’t actually cry until I was hugging my family. Dallin, on the other hand, cried during the sealing, which made me love him even more. He claims it’s because he could feel his “loss of manhood”, but I know better. I loved getting to see and hug all of our family and friends, and really feeling how much they all love and support us.
After that was all said and done, it was time for pictures outside…in the wind. :) I tried to be so fast-changing so people didn’t have to wait that long. Well I got ready before Dallin! That’s right. I was excited about it. He was late in part because he left his ring in the men’s bathroom! First time he took it off, and he forgot it. Tsk tsk—he’s learning quickly. We walked outside and it was overwhelming seeing all our family and friends waiting for us. After group pictures, Dallin and I stayed for a good 90 minutes taking our own pictures. My toes were so cold I lost feeling, but we got really good pictures...which I’m sorry I don’t have yet. If you’re really intent on seeing them, you can find them on the same site as our engagement pictures.
The luncheon was so great. The decorations were wonderful; the food was amazing—thank you Brother Nelson! And it was great to hear about all the fun stories our families had to share about us. Dallin has just a few more siblings than me…okay, a LOT more, but it was great to hear from them all. I’m sure it seemed a little long for some people, but Dallin and I loved every second of it.
Throughout the day’s events, I was feeling great. I had tons of energy…until we got to the reception…and…DUN DUN DUN…the never-ending line! That is what makes you really tired. We took more pictures there, and at that point my cheeks were starting to hurt just a little. The line really was fun though—we got to see old friends and meet new ones. I had some friends and influential people from my childhood who came, some I hadn’t seen in over 10 years! Dallin had mission buddies and even a few people he baptized who came—he was almost happier to see them than he was to be married! Key word—almost. Although it was awesome seeing so many people who are special to us, we felt kind of bad having to keep our conversations short as we tried to move the line along. We hope everyone knew how much it meant to us to know we had so much love and support in starting our lives together. Our great decorator did an amazing job—everything was just as I dreamed. The food was also amazing—thank you Marvellous Catering! They even packed us a to-go bag, so we finally got to eat our food (which was a compilation of some of Dallin’s favoritest dishes) when we got to our hotel room.
The honeymoon was incredible! We left Saturday morning (really early) to catch our 4-hour flight to sunny Orlando! Dallin is a super fun flying buddy—he says he’ll fly with anyone who wants, as long as they buy him a ticket. :) The weather was great—mid 70’s the whole time, which was perfect to us. We stayed in the Disney All-Star Movies Resort, which was awesome in itself. Poppa got the BIG suite! Okay…it wasn’t a huge suite, but it was perfect for us. We got park-hopper passes, which was a good choice because we went to all four theme parks at least twice, and some even three times. We saw all the major shows, which Dallin had never really done—I loved watching his face. :) If you ever go to Hollywood Studios, you HAVE to see Fantasmic. AMAZING! We never waited very long in lines all week. The whole week was amazing, and I can’t wait to go back. That’s right Dallin, we’re going back someday. There was too much for us to do everything, so I’m already planning our return trip. The only bad part of the whole trip was when we had to pack up and come home. :)
I’m so glad to be married to Dallin. He is such an amazing person—I’m so proud of him and what he has accomplished. I know we dated for a while before we got married, but now that we are married I wouldn’t take any of it back. I LOVE BEING A SALMON!!!
